DEFINITIONS OF OUR COMPETITIONS FOR 2021

The term ‘Rural and Remote’ encompasses all areas outside Australia’s major cities, an open swathe of land that has a few homes and not many people. Can include a person or people that live and work in the country, ie: farmers, cattlemen, cattlewomen, cattle, horses, farming equipment and equipment drivers.
PETS & ANIMALS
Photos where the main subject is a pet or an animal. The main focus needs to be the pet or animal ie: not a flock of sheep or mob of kangaroos, but one animal in particular.
ARCHITECTURE
Buildings, bridges, and other physical structures. A unifying or coherent form or structure. Examples; houses, churches, hotels, office buildings, roads, viaducts, tunnels, and, of course, bridges.
BLACK & WHITE
Combine B&W in a continuous spectrum producing a range of shades of grey.
A monochrome photo where all colour is removed, consisting of shades of gray tone that generally go from dark (black) to light (white).
PEOPLE PORTRAIT
Meaning the centre of interest must be the person, capturing an intimate gaze, or a candid shot of expression. Ensuring you are close enough to get the emotion, action or other impact.
A portrait is an artistic representation of a person in which the face and expression is predominant displaying the likeness, personality or even the mood of the person.
